About this Species

Nessaea hewitsoni is a true biological marvel. While most blue in butterflies is structural, Nessaea species are unique for producing actual blue pigment. Its wings are a beautiful olive-green with bright blue patches.

Habitat

Deep Amazonian forests where it is often seen flying rapidly across clearings.
