About this Species

Catonephele acontius features a bold pattern of two wide yellow bands on its wings. Like others in its genus, it is a sturdy butterfly that flight-mimics some unpalatable species for protection.

Habitat

Humid forests and wooded areas, particularly in the foothills of the Peruvian Andes.
