About this Species
Papilio lycophron, also known as the Lycophron Swallowtail, is a large butterfly from the swallowtail family. This species is found from Texas all the way down to Argentina, but its most impressive forms are found in the moist forests of interest like the San Martín and Pasco departments of Peru.
The upper wing is velvety black with a wide, bright yellow horizontal band crossing both the forewings and the hindwings. The tails are long and elegant, a hallmark of the Papilionidae family. Due to its large size and high-contrast colors, it is a magnificent representative of South American biodiversity.
At Kukusa, we handle each specimen with the utmost care, ensuring beautiful wings and clear patterns for every scientific or decorative collection.
