About this Species

Papilio isidorus, the Isidorus Swallowtail, is a distinctive member of the Papilio genus native to the Andean and Amazonian slopes of South America, including northern and central Peru.

The upper wings are primarily deep black, while the hindwings are characterized by several sharp magenta or intense pink dots near the wing margin. These markings give it a elegant and sophisticated look. Like many others in the Papilionidae family, it has long and graceful swallow-like tails.

All our specimens are legally obtained in compliance with SERFOR, promoting forest conservation through the support of local communities.

Habitat

Moist rainforest and montane forests, from 300 to 1,500 meters. Common in Amazonas and San Martín regions of Peru.
