About this Species

Morpho rhetenor cacica is widely regarded as one of the most brilliant and beautiful butterflies. Its blue iridescence is so intense that it is almost overwhelming to the naked eye. The subspecies cacica has a more robust and angular wing shape.

Habitat

Remote primary rainforests where it can be seen flashing through sunbeams in the mid-canopy.
