About this Species
Archaeoprepona demophon, commonly called the King Shoemaker, is a large and robust butterfly. It is a powerful flyer, often patrolling the same section of the canopy or riverbanks for hours. Its bright turquoise-blue bands are a striking contrast to its dark, velvety black wings.
Habitat
Deep Amazonian rainforest and tropical environments across the Peruvian lowlands.
