About this Species
Memphis itys, the Itys Leafwing, is a fascinating member of the Charaxinae subfamily. While its upper wings display a beautiful deep blue or purple iridescence, its underside is a perfect replica of a dried leaf, complete with a 'leaf stalk' tail.
Habitat
Common in the tropical rainforests of the Amazon basin, frequently found along forest edges and riverbanks.
