About this Species

Historis odius is a large and powerful flyer. It is often seen at dawn and dusk, visiting fermenting fruit. Its large size and strong flight make it look more like a bird than a butterfly at first glance.

Habitat

Lowland rainforests throughout the Amazon region, often associated with Cecropia trees.

Sustainability First

At Kukusa, we only deal with specimens from sustainable butterfly farms in Peru. Each purchase supports local conservation efforts and rural livelihoods.
