About this Species

Agrias amydon is a medium-sized butterfly that belongs to one of the most prestigious groups of butterflies in the world. The subspecies trypon is characterized by large, deep red-purple patches on the dorsal wing surfaces that catch the light with incredible intensity.

Habitat

Restricted to undisturbed primary rainforests of the Peruvian Amazon.
