About this Species

Adelpha lara, commonly known as the Lara Sister, is a member of the Nymphalidae family native to the tropical forests of Central and South America. It is particularly common in the foothills of the Andes and the lowland forests of Peru.

This species is characterized by its primarily black wings with broad, diagonally arranged white bands on the forewings. It exhibits the classic 'Sister' wing shape that defines this group. Its appearance is a clean and high-contrast design that has fascinated collectors for generations.

Habitat

Subtropical and tropical moist lowland forests and clearings. Frequent sightings in the Loreto and San Martín regions of Peru.
